The military is a heavily armed, highly organized force intended for warfare. It consists of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard. The military provides access to health care, paid vacation and retirement plans for service members and their families.
The Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day is commemorated to honor and remember fallen soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. This year’s event was particularly special as a new National War Memorial was unveiled in Abuja. The monument pays tribute to all Nigerians who have served in the military, both past, and present. It is a beautiful sight to see, and I encourage everyone to visit it if they get the chance.
Military families around the world will celebrate Military Kids Day. This day is set aside to honor the unique challenges and sacrifices military children make every day. While their parents are away serving our country, these kids do everything from dealing with anxiety and loneliness to managing their own move across the country. This year, let’s take a moment to appreciate all that military kids do and say thank you for their service too.
