National Day of Reason

The National Day of Reason is an annual secular celebration for humanists, atheists, secularists, and freethinkers. It is observed each year on the first Thursday in May and was established in 2003 as a response to the National Day of Prayer. The goal of this effort is to celebrate reason—a concept all Americans can support—and to raise public awareness about the persistent threat to religious freedom posed by government intrusion into private religious beliefs.
