National Pet Bird Day is celebrated on September 17th every year to recognize the many ways pet birds enrich our lives. It was established by the Bird Enjoyment & Advantage Koalition (BEAK) to celebrate the joys and benefits of bird ownership. On this day, people can show their appreciation for their feathered companions with special treats and fun activities. National Pet Bird Day has been around since ancient times when Sumerians kept birds as pets. This day is a great opportunity to appreciate our pet birds and all that they do for us!
