National No Dirty Dishes Day

Today is National No Dirty Dishes Day! If you’re like me, you love receiving gifts, but don’t love having to clean up afterwards. That’s why today is the perfect day to celebrate all of those wonderful gifts that don’t require any cleanup! Whether it’s a gift card, a new book, or a fun toy, today is the day to enjoy without having to worry about dirty dishes. So go ahead and celebrate – National No Dirty Dishes Day is the perfect excuse!

As if being saddled with the endless piles of laundry wasn’t bad enough, every day we’re reminded of one more chore we have to do: dishes. It’s no wonder dishwashing is consistently voted as one of the most hated household chores.

But what if there was a day when you didn’t have to do any dishes?

National No Dirty Dishes Day is your chance to take a break from dish duty, even when you are having a bad day!

How to celebrate National No Dirty Dishes Day

Let’s put that in 3 parts, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Breakfast

Having breakfast and not using any dishes or utensils is a bit of a challenge, but not impossible. Try eating foods that don’t require cooking or can be eaten with your fingers. Cereal, pop tarts, fruit, muffins, and pancakes are all excellent options.

You do need to eat the cereals dry, with no usage of milk or yogurt because you will need a bowl for that.

Fruit is a great option, eat an apple or pear, well, eat a fruit that includes the skin so you do not need to use a knife.

Pancakes can be an option but you need to have cooked the pancakes beforehand and save them in the fridge on paper, not on a dish.

And so there is more food to think of that you can eat in the morning without the usage of anything that you need to clean.

Lunch

You could either eat out or bring your own food from home for lunch. If you choose to eat out, be sure to order something that doesn’t require utensils, like a burger or slice of pizza. Consider packing finger food like sandwiches, sushi, or chicken strips if you’re bringing your own food.

Dinner

For dinner, you could cook something in the microwave or on the stovetop that doesn’t dirty any dishes. One-pot meals like pasta, soup, or stew are all excellent choices. Or, you could order takeout and eat straight from the container!

If you want to go completely dish-free, you could always eat cereal for all three meals. We won’t judge!

What if I can’t go a day without dishes?

If you absolutely cannot go a day without doing any dishes, that’s ok! National No Dirty Dishes Day is a fun and light-hearted holiday, so do whatever you can to make it work for you. A great option would be to use plastic dishes or throw them away after using cutlery, so you still celebrate the holiday and don’t have any dishes to wash at the end of the day.

What to give my friend on National No Dirty Dishes Day?

The best option is going out. Go to a great restaurant where you have a splendid evening with great food and let someone else, especially in the restaurant, do the dishes. That person does probably not know about National No Dirty Dishes Day and if the dishwasher knows about this day then just say, it is the job.

One thing is for sure, do not start cooking because that will make sure you have a lot of dishes to clean unless you leave them for the next day but that is not really healthy.

History of National No Dirty Dishes Day

National No Dirty Dishes Day is celebrated every year on May 18th. This fun holiday is a perfect excuse to let someone else do the dishes for you! It’s also a great day to try out some of those disposable dish products that you’ve been curious about.

This holiday has a bit of history behind it. Disposable dishes weren’t exactly a recent innovation when National No Dirty Dishes Day started. The paper plate was first invented in 1867 by Hermann Henschel. While it was a matter of convenience at the time, it became a matter of public health in 1908. During this era, tuberculosis was a serious problem.

When Dr. Samuel J Crumbine saw one of his patients drinking from the common water source he knew something had to change. He developed a movement to eliminate common utensils being used at public sources. This led inventors Hugh Moore and Lawrence Luellen to create one of the most popular disposable cups today, the Dixie Cup.

So whether you use National No Dirty Dishes Day as an excuse to eat out, or you finally give those disposable dish products a try, make sure to enjoy this fun holiday!

Dirty Dishes

Dirty dishes are not only unsightly, but they can also be dangerous. According to the National Institutes of Health, Dirty dishes can harbor harmful bacteria that can cause serious illnesses. In fact, some studies have linked Dirty dishes to the spread of diseases such as E. coli and Salmonella.

Dirty dishes can also be a breeding ground for mold and mildew, which can cause respiratory problems. In short, Dirty dishes are not worth the risk. If you’re not willing to wash them yourself, there are plenty of dishwashing services that can do the job for you.

Don’t let Dirty dishes put your health at risk.
