International All Saints’ Day

International All Saints’ Day is a holy day in the Western Christian tradition, celebrated by Roman Catholics. This includes honoring saints both canonized and unknown with some celebrating and giving thanks for those who guided others to Christ-like friends or relatives but also on this holiday we pay respect at graves which often have flowers laid upon them because it represents new life coming from death so there’s hope even though our loved ones are gone.

International All Saints' Day

The Western Christian tradition of All Saints’ Day honors and inadvertently remembers the dead by paying respect to those who have guided us in our lives, like a friend or relative. This includes both canonized saints (the holy people) as well an unknown number that is remembered through memorial flowers on their graves for November 1st-3rd each year; these traditions occur around the world including in Mexico where it is known today – Día de Los Muertos -or “Day Of The Dead.”

What is Catholic Christian International All Saints’ Day and why do we celebrate it on November 1st?

The Catholic Christian International All Saints’ Day is a day when we remember and honor all of the saints who have gone before us. We remember their lives and their contributions to our faith. We also pray for the intercession of these saints, that they may continue to guide and protect us from God.

This special day has been celebrated on November 1st since the early days of Christianity. In fact, it was on this day that the first Christian martyr, St. Stephen, was stoned to death. Since then, many other saints have been canonized and their feast days are celebrated throughout the year.

On All Saints’ Day, we honor all of the saints, whether they are well-known or not. We remember their lives and their example, and we ask for their intercession.

Some famous Catholics and Christians who have been canonized or beatified include:

  • St. Augustine of Hippo
  • St. Thomas Aquinas
  • St. Francis of Assisi
  • St. Ignatius of Loyola
  • Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

These are just a few of the many, many saints who have been recognized by the Church. All Saints’ Day is a day to remember them all and to ask for their intercession.
