Gold Star Mothers and Family Day
Gold Star Mother’s and Family Day is observed on the last Sunday in September each year to recognize and honor mothers and families who have lost a child in service of the United States Armed Forces. The day was established by President Calvin Coolidge in 1936 as a way to keep alive the spirit of service that promoted world peace. It is a day for all Americans to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
